Valentine’s at the Drive-In

OUTsider: Unplugged

Celebrate the LGBTQ+ community through film, dance, theater, performance art, music, writing, and visual art during OUTsider: Unplugged. This annual festival and conference unites artists and viewers through artistic discovery. This year’s theme focuses on the 90s and DIY that happened when humans were not constantly plugged into the internet.

The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity
Feb. 16-March 6, times vary
Get ready for a dramatic comedy. Enjoy a night at Zach Theatre as the cast performs The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity. The play follows the life of wrestler Macedonio Guerra and how he is paid to lose to bigger-name wrestlers in the ring. The play will show how Guerra found the courage to speak up and leave everything on the mat. Tickets range from $25-$95.

Fusebash
Feb. 26, 6-11pm
Join Pioneer Farms for the 2nd year of Fusebash, a creative, carnival-
inspired experience featuring adventurous performances from artists. The event includes musicians, dancers, a portrait photographer, and a photo booth. Make sure to take a ride on the three-story ferris wheel before leaving for the night. Single tickets start at $250.

Bloody Mary Festival
Feb. 27, 12-3:30pm
Enjoy a brunch-time party during the Bloody Mary Festival. With unlimited Bloody Marys, created by the finest bars, restaurants, and craft bottled mixes along with food from local restauranteurs, this festival is not one to miss if you are looking to find new local sips and bites. BBQ Cook Off
March 4-5, times vary
Get a good whiff of some of the best barbecue made in Texas during the BBQ Cook Off. Teams will compete through a blind tasting in three categories: chicken, ribs, and brisket. But don’t be blinded by the smells of smoked meats; the event also includes a petting zoo, pony rides, shopping, fireworks, and more. Tickets to enter the fairgrounds begin at $5 per person.

Zilker Kite Festival
March 6, 10 a.m.
Go fly a kite or simply marvel at all the colors in the sky during the Zilker Kite Festival, also known as the ABC Kite Festival. While families were invited to the park to fly kites last year, many additional guidelines were placed to help promote social distancing. Muddy Princess
March 20, 9am-12pm
Grab the tiaras and tennis shoes and head to the Muddy Princess, a 5K obstacle race for women only. Visitors are encouraged to come cheer on their princess. The minimum age to participate is nine years old. Venders will provide a selection of food and drinks for attendees to enjoy after the race. Soul Food Truck Fest
March 26, 11am-5pm
Taste for yourself why Austin is one of the best cities for foodies during the Soul Food Truck Fest. The day will provide attendees a taste of the mobile soul food truck gems that are tucked all over the city. From savory BBQ to Cajun-seasoned seafood to traditional soul food, 15 food trucks will be serving up mouth-watering dishes. In addition to food, vendors will be on site, beer & wine will be available for purchase. Entertainment will include music and kid-friendly activities.
