The Cathedral is Turning 3!
The Latina-owned art gallery, venue & space of community is celebrating their 3rd Anniversary.
If you haven’t visited The Cathedral, you are missing out on one of the most unique art galleries and event spaces in Austin. The gorgeous 1930’s church opened its doors in October of 2019, and is celebrating their 3rd anniversary with a festive Día De Los Muertos-inspired fiesta.
Founded by México-native, Mónica Ceniceros, The Cathedral was created as the home for atxGALS– an all woman and nonbinary visual artists collective, and a space for the Austin community to gather and celebrate local arts, with a particular focus on supporting minority and women artists.
After a month of programming in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month–including the debut of única, an exhibit featuring only local Hispanic artists- The Cathedral is concluding the festivities with their 3rd Anniversary Fiesta coinciding around Día de los Muertos. The event will include the unveiling of a brand-new exhibit inspired by this colorful celebration, special performances by local musician Angélica Rahe and a surprise guest, small bites, and a curated open bar.
Their Anniversary event coincides with their monthly Open House series that takes place on the last Friday of every month. Each month, the team at The Cathedral features a different artist from their collective, giving them the opportunity to debut a new collection hosted for the full month, a different local musician, and a different nonprofit organization. You can follow along with the collective and The Cathedral on social media at atxGALS and TheCathedralATX.
