Most Epic Spring Break Trips for 2022
Sun, Sand, and…Sharing the Sidewalk with Alligators?
Sink your toes into the soft white sand and listen to the waves lap the shoreline in Bonita Springs, Florida. With a drink in hand and worries on hiatus, there is no better way to unplug over spring break.
When on the southwest Florida coast, the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa, with a three-acre water park that can keep the family entertained for days, offers experiences quintessential to spring break. Take a brisk nature walk down the boardwalk on your way to the resort’s marina where a ferry boat awaits to take guests to the resort’s private island beach. An excursion all on its own, keep your eyes on the water during this boat ride because there is a good chance you’ll catch a pod of dolphins riding the wake of the boat and playing in the bay. Once at the beach, find a spot to bask in the warm sun or try shelling. These beaches are renowned for beach-combing sea glass, shells, and sand dollars.
When you’ve had your fill of sand and sea, take a drive to Shark Valley in Everglades National Park. Shark Valley is named after the Shark River where water from the Everglades flows through to the Gulf. While you won’t find sharks here, you’re almost guaranteed to see alligators at an uncomfortably close proximity.
Traverse this river of grass by foot, electric tram, or bicycle. Whatever your choice of exploration, take care to dodge a gator tail in the likely event you see one sunning on the path. And if you spot alligator hatchlings, be sure to keep your distance!
