Pershing Presents: MTV Cribs Party

Surprises are in store at The Pershing’s summer event series. Summer’s heating up and Pershing Hall’s turning back time! Join in the nostalgia of MTV Cribs Y2K party series with three epic nights of throwback hits, party anthems, and three killer DJs. When it’s The Pershing, you know it will be an experience. Central Texas Juneteenth Parade & Festival
June 15, 10am-9pm
Every year, the Central Texas Juneteenth Parade & Festival marks the celebration of diversity and cultural awareness commemorating Texas African American history. At Rosewood Park, the community and activist-led event exudes liberation, vitality, and support from start to finish. While the parade is from 10am to 12pm, the festival lasts until 9pm. The event is free to attend.

Night of a Thousand Lanas
June 20, 8pm-1am
Lana Del Rey’s birthday extravaganza is complete with a dance party at Hotel Vegas. A sing-a-long, Lana-themed cocktails, costume contest, and midnight birthday cake are all hosted by May Magdalene & Tequila Rose. Doors open at 8pm, and tickets are $15 if purchased in advance.

Pixies & Modest Mouse
June 26, 6pm
If you’ve never had the chance to see Pixies, this show would be the one to catch. With Modest Mouse as the opening act at Germania Amphitheater, fans will be blown away by both performances. Tickets start at $25. Doors open at 5pm, and the show begins at 6pm.

Austin African American Book Festival

The 18th annual Austin African American Book Festival is back at George Washington Carver Library & Museum and ready for another amazing year celebrating Black authors of children’s books and adult literature. The AAABF promotes creativity, activism and positive impacts for this community. At this free event, enjoy author talks, book discussions, a vendor marketplace, and more.

Sips & Sounds Summer Festival
June 29-30
This annual music festival at Circuit of the Americas is sure to keep you dancing all day and night. This year’s lineup features Kelsea Ballerini, Marcus King, Jon Pardi among others. One day tickets start at $25, two day tickets start at $45 while also offering military and student discounts.

LUSH, atxGALS Summer Pop-up Art Show
July 13, 7-10pm and July 14, noon-5pm
Escape the heat and join Austin’s largest local women artist collective at their annual Summer exhibition. Hosted at The Cathedral, a gorgeous 1930’s church turned art gallery, you can meet the artists and shop their vibrant and colorful new works. Tickets include entry and an open bar. Saturday’s festivities include access to the Collectors’ Preview Party, an opening reception to the exhibit with special entertainment. Tickets start at $35 for the Preview Party and $15 for the exhibition.

A Funny Thing Happened…
July 22-25, 10am-3pm
Calling all the funny kids! This summer camp is for those who like a good story. Excused Absence Comedy is offering low-pressure, playful exercises and techniques to build on the craft of storytelling. Fans have the chance to observe the growth in the budding performers at their final day showcase at ColdTowne Theater! The 4-day event is $285 per attendee and additional comedy camps and classes are held all summer for various age groups and interests.

Austin Tattoo Festival
August 2-4
Austin Convention Center offers Austinites the chance to meet 200 of the best tattoo artists from all over the world for three days of tattooing, art, and merch. There is even an opportunity to enter a tattoo contest! Day passes are $30 while 3-day passes are $65.

Music America: Iconic Objects from America’s Music History
Now-August 11, 9am-5pm
The LBJ Presidential Library is hosting a temporary exhibit. The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music, Music America, features artifacts from artists like Johnny Cash, Ella Fitzgerald, Taylor Swift, and many more. Take a sonic journey through performances of iconic American musicians. Tickets start at $16 for adults.
