Golden Mylk {Curcuma}
“It’s like sunshine in a cup.”

Originating in ancient India, Golden Mylk has been a popular holistic healing drink for thousands of years.
Located in the East Austin Food Park, Curcuma is a hidden vegan gem that offers a refreshing reprieve. This unassuming food trailer, run by holistic healer and chef Rachel Musquiz, is known for its 100% plant-based dishes and superfood drinks that are delectably nourishing. Even with a full menu of adaptogenic coffees, vegan eats, and gluten-free treats, the most popular pick on the menu has always been their signature Golden Mylk, an all-natural beverage made with the key ingredient turmeric (for which the trailer was named after).
As the first eatery to offer Golden Mylk in Austin, Rachel has a uniquely modern twist on the tradition. She uses her menu to encourage a return to the ancient tradition of using food as medicine. To make this one of a kind libation, Rachel uses housemade coconut milk, medjool dates and Curcuma Golden Paste, which contains cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, coconut oil, and black pepper to help absorb nutrients.
This wholesome beverage dates back to ancient India, where it was used as a healing tonic in Ayurveda (the sister science to yoga). Golden Mylk is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties and is a relaxing beverage that helps keep the body refreshed and balanced.
It’s packed with health benefits and has a unique flavor profile that is similar to chai tea and curry: warm, rich, and full of spices. With a delicious mélange of flavors, Golden Mylk is like “sunshine in a cup” and can be served hot or iced and with coffee or matcha.
To increase the popularity of this superfood elixir, Rachel collaborates with other local businesses that use her special concentrate of golden paste to create unique confections. Soup Peddler uses it in the Golden Ticket smoothie, Nadamoo! created Golden Mylk ice cream, and cafes like Caffe Medici, Buzzmill, and Greater Goods offer it on their coffee menu. She also plans to sell her Golden Paste online in the near future.
