Summer time fun for your little one.
Words by Austin Rae Downey
Believe it or not, summer is fast approaching, and those camp spots fill up fast. To make sure your child has the best experience this summer, here are our five favorite picks for keeping your kiddos entertained and educated all summer long.
1. Girls With Pens
What started as a project to empower girls to write has now turned into a coed organization that teaches young girls (and boys) creative writing skills. The organization was founded by Carolyn Cohagen, a published author with an MA in Writing from USC. Her workshops encourage children, especially girls, to feel confident and to use their imagination. Girls With Pens offers multiple summer camp classes, including a Creative Writing class, Screenwriting class, and Graphic Novel class. Most of the classes offered are co-ed, with the exception of two girls-only sections of the Creative Writing class. All of the classes are $275 for one week, and are capped at ten students. Registration for summer camp is open now, so reserve a spot soon!
