Checking into Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos
A place for all ages to sit back and relax
Planning a family vacation that will please everyone can be daunting. If you’re like me, you have the extra challenge of pleasing a toddler and tweens. Well, Garza Blanca Los Cabos checks all the boxes for a 5-star family getaway and at a rate even the pocketbook will enjoy.
The resort has ample opportunities for families to relax, whether it’s on the pristine beach, at one of their many pools, or in the spacious suites. All the suites have ocean views and private terraces. But they don’t stop there. The majority have living areas, multiple bathrooms, refrigerators, a cooktop, and a washer/dryer—pretty much all the necessities parents need to keep the routine for the littles. The spacious terraces have a dining table, seating area, and an oversized hammock. On the day of checkout, we even rolled the baby’s crib to the terrace so that we didn’t wake her while we packed. With large floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors from the bedroom and living area, we could still see her snoozing while she had a live built-in sound machine of the ocean lulling her while she rested.
Speaking of little ones, the resort offers all the creature comforts so there’s no need to overpack; a full-sized crib, baby bath, baby monitor, bottle warmers and sanitizers, stroller, and bouncers are all available to guests. While the baby enjoyed her loot (a coloring book, beach bag, hand-crafted toy, and turtle stuffy), the bigs felt special having kid-sized robes and slippers. There is also babysitting available to guests and a kids club with fun activities like bingo, yoga, a pickleball tourney, talent show, s’mores on the beach, and sombrero-making to name a few.
Adults can find peaceful moments at the spa, complete with a hydrotherapy circuit, a roof top bar with an infinity-edge pool overlooking the beautiful beach. While some all-inclusive resorts skimp on the drink selection, Garza Blanca did not disappoint. At The Rooftop, we enjoyed the Mezcaltini (passion fruit, Chile Ancho Liquor, basil, lime) and Fresco (tequila, ginger, mint, cucumber, lime). The best part is Garza Blanca has truly thought of everyone; every bar had a different, but curated, creative cocktail and mocktail selection.
Activities that the big kids and I looked forward to were horseback riding on the beach, a cooking class (with a history lesson), paddle yoga (think floating platforms in the pool), making artisan quartz bracelets, planned pool activities, and an electric bike tour on the beach (for 18+).
Garza Blanca has eight pools, plus one in the spa. You read that right, nine pools in total: two being adults-only, one at the spa with the hydro-circuit and power shower, and one being the best view in the house with an infinity-edge on the roof-top. But there is also a picturesque infinity-edge pool near the ocean for all to enjoy. The pools are immaculately clean and kept the perfect temp year round. There is also a kids pool with ankle-deep water, shoots, and water spouts. One pool has an underwater window which was super fun, and another has a swim up bar and what seemed like an endless game of volleyball.
But let’s not forget the pool-side culinary delights. Cabo is known for its sport fishing and the menus reflect the fresh catch. Favorites include Tuna Sashimi, blackened fish tacos, a heaping bowl of chips and guac, and a local dish called Aguachiles—similar to ceviche with a hearty dose of spice topped with ashed onions. There are ample options—still full of flavor—for those with dietary preferences and allergies. All sorts of fancy varieties of drinks are on the bar menu as well. My fave is the passion fruit margarita, and the kids really enjoyed the cart with the pricy iced coconuts, served fresh-cut with a straw. I’m pretty sure we could’ve eaten beach-side every day and never gotten tiered of it.
Traveling as a family of five can go over budget fast. However, traveling to an all-inclusive resort that aims to please even the tiniest of travelers is a no-brainer for savvy parents. The gamut of activities, new experiences, and family fun had at Garza Blanca Los Cabos created unforgettable memories. The best part is we were able to stay at a 5-star resort with turndown service and 24-hour room service—all for a fraction of the cost considering kids 12 years and under are free with a 3-night stay in a one-bedroom suite. However, guests can also opt for the room-only rates and make good use of that ensuite kitchen. Regardless of which option you choose, Garza Blanca is an “all-inclusive” hit for everyone in the family—no matter the age and budget.
(All-inclusive rates for a family of 4 start around $600 per night for a suite.)
