Cherrywood Art Fair 2019 Artist Lineup
Chula League’s popular holiday event taking place Dec. 7-8 to feature more than 90 talented artists curated from across Texas, plus live entertainment, local eats and family-friendly fun.
Cherrywood Art Fair, Austin’s beloved holiday art market, announces its 2019 artist lineup. More than 200 artists and makers from across the state applied to the juried fair and 93 outstanding artists were selected representing a variety of unique, hand-crafted goods such as ceramics, natural skin and beauty products, original art, stylish apparel and jewelry, children’s merchandise and pet products. The popular event, now its 18th year, will take place Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Maplewood Elementary School located at 3808 Maplewood Ave. Cherrywood Art Fair is free and open to the public. Proceeds from the event benefit its host venue Maplewood Elementary School and Chula League’s non-profit arts programming.
Since 2002, Cherrywood Art Fair has served as an Austin holiday tradition— offering a festive, eclectic destination for the community to gather, celebrate, play, shop and support Texas’ diverse creative community. The 2019 fair will continue its legacy as a can’t-miss holiday event for families and discerning holiday shoppers with a vibrant lineup of unique shoppable booths, live music and performance art programming, local food trucks and plenty of interactive kids activities including onsite crafts and face painting. CAF will also feature a silent auction benefiting Chula League. Auction items include goods from CAF artists and artwork from Little Artists who have participated in the non-profit’s Little Artist BIG ARTIST mentorship program.
Applications for the annual Cherrywood Art Fair were open to Texas artists and makers working in all mediums. Selected artists were chosen by a panel Austin creative community leaders through a blind juror process based solely on the submitted artist photos. This year’s panelists included Jaime Castillo, Ashland Viscosi, Paloma Mayorga, Anais Cruz and Clifford Gillard. Cherrywood Art Fair only showcases original work and does not accept imports or mass-produced items.
This year’s selected artists bring a vibrant assortment of artistry — from modern laser-cut home goods to vintage-inspired curiosities to playful enamel pins, the 2019 CAF merchant lineup will appeal to shoppers of every generation with any budget in mind.
