Buenos Aires Cafe
Reina Morris & Paola Guerrero-Smith
Chef Reina Morris and Paola Guerrero-Smith are the dynamic duo behind Austin’s only Argentinian restaurant, Buenos Aires Café on East 6th Street. Chef Reina, a Texas Culinary Academy
graduate, opened the café in 2005, driven by a passion for sharing the rich flavors of her Argentine heritage. Despite facing challenges as a Latina woman with no prior business experience, Chef Reina persevered, creating a space that celebrates authentic Argentine home cooking. The café’s success is a testament to her resilience and culinary vision.
Paola Guerrero-Smith, daughter and co-owner, opened Milonga Room, a speakeasy bar, and launched the Vinos del Sur project, showcasing boutique South American wines. She leads business operations, marketing, and wine curation for the café, bringing her expertise and passion for Latin American culture to every aspect of the business. A fierce advocate for women in business, Paola has been instrumental in growing Buenos Aires Café into a beloved neighborhood staple. Together, Reina and Paola have built a women-owned, Latina-led institution that thrives nearly two decades later, showcasing the strength and creativity of Latinas in the culinary industry.
