The Best Travel Destinations in 2022
#3: Tanzania
When we planned our epic safari adventure in 2019, I thought it would be a once in a lifetime trip. Little did I know we’d leave Tanzania absolutely certain that we had to get back there one day. We lucked out with incredible game viewing, seeing all of the Magnificent Seven, including cheetah and African wild dog. We were even chased by a rhino on foot after tracking a pride of female lions on a walking safari.
Tanzania is high on my list for a return trip, as I’d love to experience the Great Migration. The time of year dictates where you want to be, as over two million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelle travel clockwise through ecosystems of the Serengeti and Masai Mara every year. It’s impossible to be bored on a game drive, where everyone helps spot wildlife in the ultimate game of Where’s Waldo.
A trip to Africa is more than just safaris and sundowners, however. Tourism directly supports conservation efforts for some of the world’s most endangered species and allows visitors to contribute to local economies. Tanzania is also home to both Mount Kilimanjaro and the beaches of Zanzibar, making it a unique destination for anyone seeking adventure.
