#15: Santorini, Greece
Pretty much all anyone needs in life is encapsulated in the island of Santorini: an island bountiful with sunsets, love, and wine. Throw in all the delicious gyros and Greek salads, and I can die happy!
In all seriousness, the sunsets in Santorini are truly divine. They last longer than anywhere else in the world, and the sun itself is as vibrant and vivid as I have ever seen. Two places that top my list as the best locations to catch the sunset are the views from Skaros Rock that is on a peninsula facing the volcano and Thirassia, and second, on the open patio at Santo Wines Winery. Both spots, majestic in their own way, capture the indescribable sunsets that Santorini so graciously delivers each evening.
Of course, before the sun sets each day there’s plenty of time to bask on the beaches. Santorini is not necessarily known for its beaches, but the unique volcanic sand, rocky cliff backdrops, and crystal blue waters make soaking up the sun a breathtaking experience. The variety of black sand on one beach to red sand at the next make every stop picturesque. Because the island itself is only 29 square-miles, rent an ATV as your mode of transportation to explore the entire island. The crisp air blowing in your hair, the warm island sun kissing your face, (plus easy parking!), make it a breeze to visit the diverse beaches, shopping centers, and iconic blue-roofed villages.
No matter what you drive or where you stay, the tranquil vibes of the island feel like a warm hug every day, followed by an electrifying kiss from the sun in the evening.
