Jacoby’s:
Muskoka Smash
The deep, sweet color of berries, ripe and heavy with sugary juice, is subdued only slightly in this gorgeous cocktail. The gradient of purple runs from lilac to royal in the Muskoka Smash and is topped off with a garnish of twisted lemon and berries that give this cocktail its distinctive color. Sitting out on the warm, rustic patio of Jacoby’s, outfitted with wood finishes and nature-inspired touches, rye whiskey, basil and freshly muddled blackberries combine for this refreshment. Tart, lemon juice cuts the sweetness of the berries and pulls out the oaky flavors of the rye. Named after the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada, where Kris Swift, Creative Director of Jacoby’s Restaurant, spent summers, this recipe is pulled from childhood memories. The Muskoka Smash revives the feeling brought about by picking fresh berries and pockets laden with jewel-toned treasures as nature’s gift. This versatile drink pairs well with Jacoby’s famous burger, or for something more adventurous, the smoked jackfruit bowl offers a deliciously tangy, meatless barbecue option.
