Dining for a Cause
Inaugural Austin Restaurant Weeks kicks off August 16.
A new annual fundraiser benefiting Central Texas Food Bank, Austin Restaurant Weeks will take over the town for two full weeks of extravagant dining featuring specially-priced meals at some of the city’s best restaurants.
This city-wide fundraising event is geared towards fighting hunger in Central Texas where on any given day 1 in 6 people go hungry, unsure of when their next meal will come. Portions of each meal will go directly to Central Texas Food Bank and will contribute to the thousands of meals they provide to those in need each year. The Food Bank is able to turn $1 into four meals for fellow Texans, so by participating, Austinites will be dining out for the purpose of feeding others.
In addition to contributing to a worthy cause, diners can also use this as an opportunity to explore some of the city’s best restaurants at reasonable prices. From farm-to-table cuisine to classic favorites, and even a few breweries, there’s no shortage of dishes to try during this two-week long event.
Participating restaurants will offer prix fixe meals for diners with a portion of the cost going towards the Food Bank. Prices start at $25 for a 2-3 course lunch and go up to $45 for a 3-4 course dinner, with some establishments offering cocktails or beer specials for $6-$8.
Presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Austin Restaurant Weeks will run from August 16 through September 2 with more than 50 restaurants participating. East Austin restaurants include Buenos Aires Cafe, Il Brutto, Grizzelda’s, Jacoby’s, The Hightower, and many more favorites.
While each guest who walks into a participating restaurant will be offered the special Austin Restaurant Weeks menu, reservations are still highly recommended. For reservation information and the full list of participating restaurants, visit austinrestaurantweeks.org.
