As summer nears its end, soak up every last bit while it lasts. One refreshing way to do that is by gathering a group of friends and heading to a local brewery. Luckily, Austin certainly isn’t limited to great craft beer options, especially on the Eastside. Head to one of the many breweries East Austin has to offer and try one of these summer beers to celebrate the summer season.
River Beer
Hops and Grain
A light and crisp beer, River Beer is perfect for exactly what the name implies. River hangs, pool days, or beach trips, this beer is the ideal thirst-quenching companion. The best part about this beer, however, isn’t just the effortless drinkability of it, but the fact that it supports a great cause. Hops & Grain donates 2% of all River Beer can sales to charities supporting clean waterways.

Further Out
Oddwood Ales
After opening on Manor Road in March, Oddwood Ales has garnered worthy attention for its American-style beers, pizza offerings, and cozy atmosphere. The brewpub comes from the head brewer of Adelbert’s Brewery and focuses on American-style wild ales and hoppy ales that have been aged in wooden barrels. For a summery sip, try Further Out which is a medium-bodied pale ale with notes of stone fruit, grapefruit and tobacco.

Govalle
Friends and Allies Brewing
Whether a glass or a flight, make sure the Govalle is on your list at this Springdale Road taproom. The Govalle is a Tropical IPA featuring mango, lime and Azacca, a citrusy hop with tropical aromas. A zesty and refreshing brew, the Govalle is bursting with flavors that take you to a tropical destination far from the heat of an Austin summer day. The Govalle is also the brewery’s first seasonal beer offered in a can, so find it in stores while it’s still available!

Neon Summer
Zilker Brewing
When hanging out on the Zilker Brewing patio on a warm, end-of-summer evening, Neon Summer should be the drink of choice. This brew is a light bodied, hazy pale ale with Azacca Hops, which makes for an overall light and citrusy drink. The taproom recently revamped the brew by launching Neon Summer Vol. 2, which has added Citra hops for even more tropical flavor.
