Celebrate a Piece of History

Take the whole family out to the ballpark and join the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department as they celebrate Downs Field Historic Grandstands Renovation Ceremony. The historic baseball field in the heart of East Austin has served as a community hub for generations. Take the kids, dress comfortably, and enjoy the outdoors in this beautifully renovated park!

Comedy Showcase
June 14, 8 p.m.
Prepare for a night of laughter at Cherrywood Coffeehouse as it hosts a comedy showcase. Make sure to arrive early, order a drink, and grab a seat on the patio. The showcase is a weekly event, so join the fun and laughter any Tuesday night this summer.

Peace to the Queen
Now through Aug. 15
Keep on learning as the Carver Museum presents the first career retrospective of iconic photographer Jamel Shabazz in their newest exhibit: Peace to the Queen. The gallery signals a major turning point for the museum that has emerged as a formidable Black Arts institution in the southwest region.

The Sound of Music
June 15-July 24, times vary
The hills are alive in Austin as The Sound of Music plays on the stage at Zach Theatre. Throughout June and July, residents are invited to a showing of this musical classic, bringing the Von Trapp family to life. The musical includes a Tony, Grammy, and Oscar-winning score and is sure to entertain.

Juneteenth Celebration
June 18, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Start the morning at Rosewood Park as they kick off with the Juneteenth Parade at 10am, ending at George Washington Carver Museum with live music performances, a marketplace, arts and crafts, and activities for the whole family. The event is free and open to the public.

Camp Latinitas
June 27, 10 a.m.
Young girls, ages 9-14, are invited to attend summer camp with Latinitas. With different themed camps for students interested in design, entrepreneurship, empowerment, and gaming, campers will learn valuable life-long skills by completing various projects. Scholarships are available for those who qualify.

Patriotic Festival
July 2, 12-9:30 p.m.
Dress in red, white and blue and head to Bastrop for their annual Patriotic Festival, just in time for July 4. Festivities include face painting, a water wonderland, sand volleyball, basketball, bingo, and more. Then stick around after the sun goes down for a dramatic fireworks display.

H-E-B Austin Symphony Concert & Fireworks
July 4, 8:30 p.m.
Gather on Vic Mathias Shores while the city skyline is lit up with an unforgettable fireworks display as Austin Symphony hosts its Independence Day show. Bring a picnic blanket and some snacks and grab a spot on the lawn during this free event.

Wild Hearts Tour
July 25, 6 p.m.
Enjoy the fresh air with a concert under the stars as Moody Amphitheater hosts three powerhouse artists. Featuring Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, and Julien Baker, this show is sure to be an indie music fan’s dream and a great excuse to get outside and enjoy what Austin is most well-known: incredible live music, gorgeous green spaces, and a fun-loving community. Movies in the Park
July 28, 9-11 p.m.
Movies in the Park is back as Austin Parks Foundation presents a series of free family-friendly movies throughout the summer. The free event allows families to gather in Colony Park on July 28 to watch a showing of The Mitchells vs. The Machines. Dogs, picnics, and lawn chairs are welcome.
